Email Blasting VS Email Marketing, What (web developer) Is The Difference?
No commentsBy Yean Shin Yong
Many of us wrongly think that Email Blasting equals to Email Marketing.
If you are only doing Email Blasting, you are wasting time & effort in Marketing.
Email Blasting is useless but Email Marketing is powerful.
You may ask: “What is the difference?”
98% of companies are Email Blasting / Email Broadcasting to their database & try to generate sales. I know you are one of them. STOP this!
These are characteristics of Email Blasting:
i. The email content is focus on selling company product or highly sales oriented.
ii. It is a one time, unplanned email message.
iii. The marketing effect is very less.
Yet, Email Marketing is a well-planned marketing campaign that is executed by companies to achieve long term & impactful marketing effect. This approach is very mature in US market, yet companies in Asian countries are losing out for not implementing it or implementing it correctly. Many of them think Email Blasting / Email Broadcasting is Email Marketing.
Email Marketing consists of well-planned sequence of email messages that will be sent out according to day intervals that are pre-set. These email messages are a mixture of sales message (20%) & valuable information (80%) to your client. Besides, a complete Email Marketing campaign also includes a Subscription Area in corporate website to capture visitors email & information. The main aim is to in email marketing is to build the relationship between you and your customers, so that once they need your kinds of service or product, they can only think of you.
How are you able to capture the email & information?
The idea is straightforward. By providing them value-adding incentive (such as discount coupon, regular update of useful information), they are willingly provide you the information. In this case, your email marketing campaign starts to function as a Customer List Building machine. It automatically collects visitor contacts for you 24 hours per day. Imagine as time passes by, you have 50,000 customers in your database, how useful this database is.
Remember, a sequence of email messages has long-lasting effect on your clients brain. (That’s why Advertisers has NEVER advertise only ONCE). Whenever they need your service, they think of you.
To summarize, a real Email Marketing campaign has the following characteristics:
i. The email content is more of education message instead of sales-oriented message
ii. It consists of minimum 6 email messages in a complete sequence
iii. It is a well-planned campaign
iv. The result is 250% - 680% better than Email Blasting
v. The marketing effect stays in subconscious of your clients no matter they are aware of it or not
vi. It is building customer list for you even when you are sleeping.

Using Adwords to Increase Your Sales
By Paull Coulter
People who surf the Internet are using the Google search engine and other search engines to find information on products and services in which they are interested. Google will generally give a website two to three times as much traffic as the other popular search engines combined. This is why paying Google to send traffic to your site is a good idea. You can do this by using Google’s advertising program called Adwords.
You have probably already seen this program in action and not have been aware of it. When you do a search for something using Google, you will find that there is a set of results that show up in the sponsored links list. These are the sites that have paid for the privilege of showing up in your search results. You will typically see Ads by Google at the top of the list. This is called a pay per click program because advertisers are charged every time a user clicks on an ad.
Google Adwords is a great addition to your marketing campaign, but should not be the only marketing strategy you use. However, with Google Adwords you can maintain control of your advertising budget because Google allows you to decide on the most that you will pay for a click on your ad. Google gives you the option of setting a limit on the amount you will spend each day. You pick the keywords you want to target and place a bid on the amount you are willing to spend per click for those words. Google claims that their Adwords program has higher click through rates than other programs by as much as four or five times.
This is paid advertising, so you will want to ensure you make use of the most targeted keywords possible. You are paying for the clicks, so you should make sure that you are getting a return on your investment. There are some things that you can do to make sure that your advertising budget is not wasted.
Choose Your Keywords Carefully
Stay away from keywords that are too general. In order to separate your site from other sites and generate traffic from visitors who are likely to buy your product, choose keywords that will bring such potential customers to your site. The competition for specific keywords is relatively lower than for general keywords. As a result, you will pay a lower price per click for these more highly specific keywords. Try to be as specific as you can when you are choosing your keywords.
Target the Geographical Area
You can start advertising for your business in the geographical area where you live or do business. You can be more specific with your keywords in this regard. You can test the waters with the Adwords program. Expand to a broader market after you have achieved some success in the local market.
Check the Grammar and Spelling on Your Ads
It might seem that you should already know it is important to check your advertising grammar and spelling, but you would be surprised how many people dont check their copy after it is written. When you create an ad, make sure the ad does not look poorly written. It will not get clicked if it is. It will also make your business look bad. If possible, have someone else take a look at your copy before you put post it online. Another pair of eyes can sometimes pick up on things that you may have overlooked.
Evaluate Your Competition
It is unlikely that your business is the only one of its kind on the Internet. There are always going to be businesses that will use the same keywords that you are interested in using. Search the keywords you are going to be using and see what comes up. This is a good way to check out your competition. You can see how they are using the ad program for their businesses. Look at their headlines and copy to see how they entice people to their business sites.
Make a Budget and Stick to It
Know how much you could spend at the beginning of your efforts and stick with it. You will need to keep a good evaluation of your marketing techniques to see which ones are having an effect and which ones are not. It will be hard to tell which method you are using is bringing the customers to your site. You can try asking your customers how they found your site. Only increase your budget for a particular campaign that is working.
If you have a website that is informational only, then you probably won’t want to pay much for the traffic to your site. If you have a site like this, Google might pay you to advertise for Adwords members on your informational site. You can get more information by visiting Googles advertising program.

How to Conduct Keyword Research
By Yean Shin Yong
Keyword research is one of the most important tasks that can make or break your SEO campaign. A lot of webmasters have a misconception about keyword research. They assume that they understand the market very well. They will just brainstorm some simple keywords and assume that these are what being searched on the search engine every single day. No matter how experience you are in the market, never assume. In today’s rapid changing environment, what you know may not hold. There are a few simple basic guidelines that you can follow to conduct effective keywords research.
Firstly, you need to reassure that your targeted audience can find your site. If you are not wording the keywords in the way they are being searched for, how do you expect to have people find you? You need to know how people are searching for what information, service, or good it is you have to offer. To do this step, you need to create a valid list of initial keyword seeds. Start to build your initial keyword seeds by brainstorming, visualizing what your customers/prospects will type in the search engine.
Most of the webmasters stop after the step above. The next step that you need to do is to verify that your keyword lists is appropriate and get more keywords idea. The best tool that I can recommend you to complete this task is the free Google Keywords Tool. Google just updated his free tool recently to provide the monthly average search volume of the keywords.
All you have to do is copy and paste you initial keyword seeds into the Google Keyword Tool search box, Google will return you the search volume of each keywords, plus a whole bunch of additional related keywords. This tool will not only provide you the accurate statistics, it will open your mind to a whole new list of keywords that you have not thought about.
Simply go thru the whole list of keywords and remove all the keywords that have low search volume. You do not want to waste your time in optimizing your web pages for keywords that have low search volume.
The next step will be keyword competitive research. For all the keywords that you have collected after stage 2, you need to do a competition research on each keyword term. If a keyword term is extremely competitive, we will need to leave the keyword a side and work on those keywords that have good search volume but moderately competitive.
To conduct keyword competitive research, simply head to Google, key in the keywords and note down how many pages are found. For keywords that have more than 5,000,000 matched results, it is consider as very competitive and we should put it aside.
Once you have that list complete, then you can start you SEO campaign. Never start your SEO campaign until you have your keywords list ready.
